Susan Smith, yoga teacher, spiritual guide and author of “The Power of Yoga” is a dedicated yoga practitioner. With over 30 years of education and experience in health, wellness, yoga, mindfulness and spiritual awakening she developed teacher training and immersion programs founded through her multi-disciplinary studies. Susan founded One-Yoga, a holistic health and wellness institute dedicated to improving the quality of life by sharing the deep personal work and practical approach of yogic principles and practice. Her approach to yoga is founded in the Eight-Limbed Path of Yoga and Vedanta philosophy. Susan is considered the “teacher of teachers” and shares her vision, passion, and practicality with students worldwide. She has had the privilege of studying with many knowledgeable teachers; she honors each one and their contributions to her teaching. Susan holds a MSM in Health Care, MYI & ERYT in Yoga Instruction, and MRT in Usui Reiki.

YTT 200 Hour 26 Week Program

What is “The Path to Joy”?

It is a 200 hour yoga teacher training certification program that teaches you how to live present in each moment and find peace and purpose. It is a journey to learning how to live yoga every day, experiencing the practices that cleanse the physical, mental and spiritual bodies. It is a course that gives you all the tools you need to live your best life!

This unique comprehensive program includes:

  • “The Journey Within” virtual kick-off.”
  • 26 small group classes that meet weekly, bi-weekly or online.
  • Asana, pranayama, meditation, lecture, discussion, sharing, experiential learning, practicum, and assisting.
  • Fire ceremony graduation celebration.
  • Yoga Alliance Certification upon completion of the course.

This year we have (5) in-person classes and (1) online class that is lively, interactive and virtual. You work directly with the teacher, so you can study and practice from the comfort of your home.

The in-person classes are nothing short of fabulous. Plus all students get access to a robust online resource library that includes: weekly guided meditations, intentions, affirmations and asana practices to help them learn, grow and deepen their practice throughout the YTT journey.

The online class includes 16 weeks of interactive and engaging study called “The Art of Teaching” that focuses on alignment, anatomy, queuing, energy reading and teaching methodology. This helps virtual students develop their skillset for teaching powerful, impactful yoga classes that facilitate self-referral healing. In addition, online students also receive 26 weeks of self-guided personal journey work which includes: Virtual lessons on the yoga lifestyle and philosophy, journal questions for self-discovery and realization, guided meditations, weekly intentions, affirmations and a resource library jam packed with a variety of practices for students of varying levels and needs.

It all begins with “The Journey Within” (LIVE) kick-off on Saturday and Sunday September 18th and 19th from 8:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. Weekly, bi-weekly and online proceed the following week.

 

Important Notes:

  • Should you enroll in a class and your schedule changes, you are able to switch classes. And should you have to miss a class due to unforeseen circumstances, make-up classes are available.
  • Payment plans are available but tuition must be paid in-full prior to the start of the YTT.
  • The classes follow the school calendar so national holidays are recognized as time off.

Yoga Training Techniques and Practice: In-depth study of the postures, purpose, benefits, modifications and class sequencing. Techniques include: Hatha, Vinyasa, Therapeutic Yoga, including Chair / Limited Mobility practices. You will learn about creating safe space, the class container, its structure, symbolism, meaning, and designing classes for specific populations. Meditation, breathing and MBSR techniques are taught weekly to provide each student the opportunity to experience and learn the benefits of practice.

Anatomy and Physiology: Basics of anatomy, muscular skeletal systems, connective tissue, the nervous system, and interrelated issues of injury and imbalance. Principles of Functional Movement and the kinetic chain.

Teaching Methodology: Is grounded in: (1) the belief that we as yoga teachers represent living examples of the principles and practice of yoga; (2) we offer verbal, directive, energetic, or hands-on loving healing touch to help each student with their practice; and (3) we facilitate reintegration of the mind-body-spirit connection through universal truths.

Philosophy and Spiritual Connection: Rooted in classical tradition (The Eight-Limbed Path, Ayurveda and Vedanta), understanding the chakras, spiritual anatomy, energy and pranayama practices.

Practicum: Practice teaching and learning the art of hands-on adjustments, observation and assists.

Integrating Yoga and Ayurveda: Ayurveda restores balance of bodily systems using diet, herbal treatment, Dinacharya practices and yogic breathing for remedial health.

The personal practice of living yoga on and off the mat.

The business of yoga, yoga therapy and applications.
