Autumn always stirs up lots of stuff. It is the cycle of life in action and a call for self-healing.
Nothing really dies, and yet death is experienced. The end of a physical existence, the conclusion of a relationship as we know it, the loss of a job, the leaves crumbling and disintegrating into the earth, is a death. We refer to this process as the cycle of life. It is change from one form to another. We are constantly evolving, changing and growing.
Our spiritual nature which is Loving Omnipotent Vibrant Energy (LOVE) is always calling us home. It is healing of immense magnitude. Self-healing is our duty, our responsibility.
At first glance that might seem like a selfish statement, but quite the contrary. As a mom I am always thinking of my boys first and me second. Think of it this way: no matter how much you love others, want to help others, share or be of service, you cannot authentically do that until you have healed yourself.
We learn through direct experience, perception in this physical existence. We don’t really understand how to heal, the process of healing and growth, the challenges and reward, until we’ve done it ourselves. Once we know healing on a deep, intimate and irresistible level, and because we are all connected, we are then compelled to go out and share that information with others.
For example: If I overcooked salmon and it becomes dry, no one wants to eat it, including me. I then proceed to learn the best way to cook salmon. This might lead to me becoming a great chef, or writing a cook book.
Our work, (whatever it is), our lives are a healing evolution, constantly changing and growing, dying from an existence as we once knew it, and reborn to a new one. Our work is first and foremost us! That’s why I love yoga so much. The symbolism of savasana (corpse pose) to dimbhasana (infant pose) at the end of each class is rich with the message of healing and the cycle of life.
How will you make your healing a priority today?
- Pick two things that will help you.
- See it clearly.
- How will that healing activity fit into your schedule?
- Share that plan with someone and send that intention out into the universe.
- And, hold yourself accountable.
- If you need a little help, ask for it, and receive it.
