We are in general a world of disconnected beings living, breathing and moving in full company of others and yet socially and intimately isolated in a sea of people. We are standing right next to someone, talking to them and yet – not really with them at all.
The coronavirus brought forth what is known as Abhinivesa, fear of the unknown, fear of death. It is the big gun of the Kleshas. Our egos have us running around thinking we are in charge of our destiny, attached to so many things. We are attached to our schedules, our food, doing well, success etc. We run from things we dislike and avoid situations that make ego feel less then.
“OK you isolated souls, I will show you what isolation is so that you can appreciate true connection.”
The mandated social distancing has brought to the forefront the isolated prison we have really locked ourselves in. Just stop. Stop letting fear, ego, attachment and aversion rule you. Wake up! Smell the coffee or roses or whatever is right in front of you. Breathe deeply. Take a moment – no take a lifetime to love. Love is a verb, an action of extending compassion, understanding and total acceptance in full surrender. It is humble and modest, completely detached and embracing all that is.
I believe that the holy human spirit shines brightest in the most difficult times. You have an opportunity right now to connect on the deepest, personal and intimate level. So take a moment – no take a lifetime and do that! Make that your intention – your daily moment to moment practice. Practice LOVE right now!
